Wah How to refer to people.

As we know how to use these pronouns to refer to people who are males, female and plural.

Subject Object Possessive
Males
he him his
Females
she her her
All males, all females or both. they them their

What if we talk about one person that we don't know the gender?
You may think it could be it, right?
The answer is They.  We can use they even though we are referring to one person.

For example:

A: Someone came into the shop yesterday and brought the $5000 dress.
     B: Really, did they?

  • If someone calls, please tell them they will get their money tomorrow.
  • Somebody has left their bag on this couch.
  • When I tell a customer a joke they laugh.
  • A teenage rarely thinks about their future
  • When I greet a friend I hug them.
  • Someone called for you, but they did not leave a message.
  • A child becomes an adult when they turn 18.
