Wah How to use comparison of adjectives.

The comparative form is used when two things are being compared with each other.

1. Comparative forms for one and two syllable words.


Adjective + -er than


       tall -> taller
       nice -> nicer
       healthy -> healthier 
       fat -> fatter

  • You are older than me.
  • Your house is cleaner than mine
  • I got up easier than usual day.
  • Is John stronger than James?
  • Russia isn't colder than Ukraine.

Note: but there are some adjectives using another form:
       good -> better
       bad -> worse
  • He is much better than me.
  • Today is worse than yesterday, damn!

2. Comparative forms for three or more syllable words.

More + adjective + than


       beautiful -> more beautiful
       comfortable -> more comfortable
       intelligent -> more intelligent
       unhealthy -> more unhealthy

  • This flower is more beautiful than that one.
  • Is smoking more unhealthy than eating junk food?
  • They aren't more intelligent than us.
  • I can't believe this couch is more comfortable than my bed.

We can use other comparison forms from these:
